Should we try to "keep up"? Or should we just be ourselves?

I've tried the whole keeping up approach, with everything from diets to facial cremes, cars, clothes, everything, and not only found myself to be more and more broke as time went on, but also wasn't any happier, and all the products that you buy, if they're cosmetic, hair or clothes, eventually get old and are worthless anyways, and get outdated, so you feel completely ridiculous, right back to where you started off in the first place.

It feels like keeping up is a losers game ultimately.

OR perhaps you can update once in a while but not try to buy every new car, laptop, facial product or clothing design that comes out because months later, new things come out which are more trendy and better, and you're left feeling like you're 2nd rate now.

Obviously marketing, business, etc, have designed this in order to make more money, but shouldn't we just try to dodge them? I mean they RELY on our vanity and greed for business. If we denied them, theyd be gone. Is that such a bad thing?

Should we try to "keep up"? Or should we just be ourselves?

you always have to be yourself, you would have to be rich to keep up, and the stress isn't worth it, the company's don't care about you, only making their wallets fatter. Be yourself, and be happy and content with who you are, you would be surprised how some superficial people would envy that, because a lot of them are not happy. Why would not having those things make you feel 2nd class? I'm sure your much better than that.

IM practical...no designer clothes cuz God doesnt care..

Should we try to "keep up"? Or should we just be ourselves?

If you don't walk your own path, no one ever will.
