Well im 14 and i got to pick subjects soon for school but i dno what i wanna be because ive said loads of things like bein a cheff but my step dad said i cant cook then i said what about a lawyer or jurlalist but he said im too dumb then i said wha about interia designing and he said im not smart enough lol like come on that is ther to be ? i want a creative job but i cant draw my step dad wants me to join the army but im quite a girly girl and i get the giggles easily so when they got to stand up strait and the man shouts at me id start laughin in his face like i do when my mum shouts at me lol and my mum wants me to do hair dressing but i dnt coz its boring and all the girls want to take hair and beauty in school please help ? what should i be ???????

First of all, don't listen so much to what your parents are saying. It's time for you to worry about you. And forget the rest.

You will need to start with the basic core of classes you need for graduation. Your counselor should help here. Math, English, Science, History. The rest will be left to some choices (maybe). My daughter never got to choose too much.

Knowing what you need for graduation is key. Because you need the high school diploma first to get anywhere.

Then take something you know you can always use, computers is usually a good basic 1st year choice. If you like cooking, go there. (your stepdad doesn't have to eat what you learn to make, and you can always benefit from that skill).

You don't have to choose what you want to be now, so just go forward with the basics and see where it takes you.

Take whatever classes you want. Don't let anyon, not even your dad tell you what you can't do. If you put your full effort into it you can be any of those things you mentioned. Best of luck.

If your parents loved you at all, they would NEVER call you stupid. You need to do what sounds good and fun to you, then take the classes that pertain to that, remember that you will be the one in that field, not them

First of all, your step dad cannot dictate what you are good at and what you're not....or even your passion. It's your life and your decisions. No one should tell you what to do and what not to do. You have to find that one thing you L-O-V-E to do the most. I found my love for fashion design in the most unexpected place and that was during my junior year in high school. You have to really look inside yourself and find what it is that makes you happy. Don't do something that you don't like because in the end, you'll regret it. Good luck!

Listen to your mind and heart no one elses. You can be dumb at something, but if you learn it no one can tell you otherwise. Why don't you tell your mom that your step-dad is a jerk and he should support you. first of all your step dad sounds like a real jerk. He's being verbally abusive to you by telling you that you are dumb or not smart enough. Please do not listen to him. What does your heart tell you that you want to be? So what if you can't cook right now, you're only 14! That's why chefs go to school so they can LEARN to cook. Chefs don't just wake up one day and are able to cook everything perfectly. Trust me sweetie, don't listen to your step dad's negative comments. Be what you want to be. Now is the time to try lots of things so you can find out what you can be good at and what things you won't be good at. It doesn't matter what you can or can't do RIGHT NOW, that's why you go to school so you can learn how.

Don't stress out too much. You should be thinking about what you want to be, but you don't have to make an absolute decision right now. Choose a variety of classes. You may find that you become interested in something you never thought you would be. Or, maybe you will choose to be a chef, hairdresser, what have you. Learning different subjects will make you a really well-rounded and well informed person. You'll probably find your decision will find you.
