Afro hair and gel?

why is when you put gel in afro hair it starrts to break whats the best gel designed for afro hair which won't break it

Afro hair and gel?

That depends on what your using the gel for. A lot of gel has alcohol in it which can be very drying for African American hair. Dry hair leads to breakage. Also, once gel is on the hair, you shouldn't mess with the hair.

To define the curls, I recommend aloe vera gel, vitamin e gel or Fantasia IC gel with sparklites.

For slick-backed styles, I recommend Lets Jam or Fantasia IC gel with sparklites..

Hope this helps.

Afro hair and gel?

Sally Beauty Supply has an Ethnic section. Could be that you have straightened and your straightener was a bit strong.... so anything with any amount of alcohol in it will harden and break your hair.....maybe try a wax or more pliable product.....read the ingredients and stay away from the ones that state alcohol first.

Afro hair and gel?

yep .......................................

Afro hair and gel?

There is this gel called "Afro Shine" and you can get it at "Beauty Supply" that is a little store in the getto. So I hope you get this straight!!!!

Afro hair and gel?

I think that you are using gel that is made for people with straight hair, most gels that are sold in stores are not for people of color. Don't go the Sally's they do not have a good selection for African American hair. I have natural hair and I use Pro Style Gel, it's in a black container and usually has white writing on it. That gel is the best for me. They have it at Walmart, it's in the section for African American Hair, it's usually close to the You should locate the beauty/hair supply stores in your area. They have a larger selection for African American hair.

Are there really products that help short, damaged hair grow long and thick?

When I was younger people admired my long, beautiful hair.

As I got older, I got my hair pressed a lot, put braids in it and cut my actual hair once I tried to take them out, and wound up with split ends. Now my hair is short, brittle, and it doesnt grow like it used to. I heard of this new product designed to grow hair and stregnthen it which consists of a shampoo, moisterizer, relaxer, etc. The have they're own web site, and I've done some research and they seem to be pretty accurate. However, most of the time advertisements are lies and none of it may be true. So, does anyone know if hair treatments that claim they work, really do work?

Are there really products that help short, damaged hair grow long and thick?

Yes. Some olive oil moisturizer or some other things.

Are there really products that help short, damaged hair grow long and thick?

I acually have the same problem. GO to the African Braiding salon it will he you get thick healthy hair. ~~Dre

Are there really products that help short, damaged hair grow long and thick?

Infusium is a great shampoo/conditioner that you could probably buy at any grocery store, it works really well on my hair and my whole familys hair so I'm hoping it might work with you

Are there really products that help short, damaged hair grow long and thick?

no not really. for me, i never really cared about my appearance but i just use shampoo and conditioning regularly, but people say i have lovely hair. my best advice for you is not to buy them. shampoo with conditioning in them doesnt work as well as shampooing then conditioning. also, dont wash your hair like EVERYDAY. wash it like once every two days or so. that way, it gets rid of unwanted oily ness but keeps nutrients in. and dont take this personally but i may suggest a hair transplant.

Are there really products that help short, damaged hair grow long and thick?

I was taking silica capsules (basicly clay) to strenthen my nails when I first started playing guitar, my hair went crazy, went from shaved head to pony tail in about 12 months. you will get them in most health food stores.

How can i keep my hair curley?

I have naturally curley hair, but as soon as it dries it just goes frizzy and curley. I've tried syrums and shampoos designed for curley hair but they don't work. Syrums make my hair go very greasey. I have very fine hair but a hell of a lot of it!

Help!!

How can i keep my hair curley?

you need something with hold...like a spray gel...apply it you wet hair and let dry...for extra hold apply a little arisol hairspray when its dry....or you could just a curling cream like Curls Rock by TIGI..which you also apply to wet hair...both are non greasy

How can i keep my hair curley?

I use Toni and Guy curl balm after towel drying my hair. Also try using hair serum while your hair is still wet, it won't go greasy. Then use a diffuser to gently dry your hair on a low heat. Oh yeh and when it's dry I use Mark Hill curl defining spray to tame any frizz.

How can i keep my hair curley?

use curlers

How can i keep my hair curley?

get a shampoo called super curly then get some rollers and keep them in your hair with a bandanna on your hair

How can i keep my hair curley?

plug your self in to the mains

How can i keep my hair curley?

Don't have it cut. And don't call me Curley.

How can i keep my hair curley?

Finesse Mousse for curly hair is good. It holds the curl but doesn't make hair hard and crispy.

After shampooing hair, comb conditioner through with a wide tooth comb, rinse out and then shake your head. Don't brush or comb again. Just scrunch in mousse and air dry or blow dry with a diffuser attachment. This works for me.

How can i keep my hair curley?

BOOTS Will come up with an new product to straighten you re hair ( approx a week from now in store) do that so its straight and put rollers in or curl es when you want curl es

How can i keep my hair curley?

Try only washing your hair once or twice a week. Shampoos strip the oils from our hair. Let the natural oils in your body provide your hair the natural syrum it needs. Brush your hair for about 10-15 minutes twice or more a day, maybe when watching tv. This will distripute your natural oils evenly. This is the ultimate in natural conditioning.

Chemicals like shampoo treat everyone the same. but everyone is different. Use shampoo to meet your specific needs, not what they say to do.

How can i keep my hair curley?

I have naturally curly hair prone to frizz, I use a curl booster on wet hair, John Frieda is good, with just a small amt of mousse to the frizziest parts followed by hair spray and then leave to dry naturally, NEVER blow dry!!! This leaves nice natural looking curly all day long. I found the syrums tended to leave my hair greasy too. Toni n Guy do a product called curljam which is excellent but a little pricey around 鎷?2-15 a time...

I also never brush my hair when i am wearing it curly, just run through once with a wide tooth comb while wet and before using any styling prods...

How can i keep my hair curley?

Your best bet is to use an hummidy shampoo like Tigi Control Freak and twist your hair round your fingers when wet to allow it to dry with a curl, also apply mouse and this should avoid the frizz!

How can i keep my hair curley?

right, dry it with a defuser on quite low, put a little serum through it before. after take some curling tonges ang just do the few frizzy bits on top.

How can i keep my hair curley?

I have curly hair too and boy its a curse!!!!Ive tried all kinds of creams and serums.I started to use sunsilk silky and straight smoothing cream{purple bottle} and it leaves my curls defined without that crispy feel.I bought it at tescos but i have seen it in local chemists too. At 鎷?.99 you cant go wrong!I have found straighting balms work better than serums designed for curly hair.GOOD LUCK.

How can i keep my hair curley?

I have got curly hair too!

I use that John Freda spray - which you use on damp hair. It is really good stuff and it maintains your curls without the fizz.

Also I have used a Loreal Mouse before and that was really good to! It came in a metallic green bottle and I think it were called curl definer. I know it sounds mad too but if you go to bed with damp hair and the next morning my hair is really really curly!!

As for shampoos I use that Tres Semme stuff it is really really good (proper salon stuff).

Another one is to maintain your curls - use a spray pump filled with water and spray throughout your hair and lift it up at the same time.

My hairdresser also told me once to never brush curly hair as it makes it flat and lifeless so also use a seperater comb - which you can get from boots, superdrug etc.

Good luck chuck!

How can i keep my hair curley?

How about trying a leave-in conditioner? This really helps to calm, control frizz and improve texture. I find the best ones are in the spray forms.

How can i keep my hair curley?

keep singeing it.

How can i keep my hair curley?

Sunsilk anti frizz really helps and when rinsing your hair never use hot water make it luke warm

How can i keep my hair curley?

you can buy spechail muses which help x

How can i keep my hair curley?

Yep, have similarprobelsm with my hair. I use Sunsilk Smooth Shampoo andConditioner (Purple Bottle). It is fantastic, leaves your hair really smooth. Don't be put off by thepicture of poker straight hair on the bottle though. It is still great for curly hair. I then use GHD Sea Spray, which makes my curls defined, rather than looking like Crystal Tips (may be wasted on you that one if you are a youngster, but is basically a frizzy mess that creates almost a triangle shape of frizz on your head . . . mmmm lovely).

Anyway give it a go.

I have a problem....(for my hair)?

Okay...the thing is that I want to straighten my hair.

I'm an Indian girl with thick, wavy hair. It's about medium length.

My mom got me a flat iron but when she got it, I didn't really known much about straightening hair and everything.

I asked around about a good straightener, and my friends were like, "Don't get the ON-OFF kind. You should get the one where you can adjust the temperature."

Recently, I saw a good Conair straightener which was designed to lessen hair damage and everything. I asked my mom if we could buy it but she said that I already had one at home and I told her it was different and everything, but she still thinks the flat iron is better (note: it's also a Conair one) and all. It was bad of me, but I sorta kept bugging her and then she said, "I'll take you to a beauty salon and get you a perm." That got me thinking (well, I still wanted that Conair straightener b/c I would have a choice of either straight or wavy hair).

*more details coming*

I have a problem....(for my hair)?

Ok, that wasn't a question, but there are a few things I could point out that are incorrect. First of all, never ever buy anything cheap or dingy for your hair. Theres a rule I always adhere by and it's: you get what you pay for.

And also, your friends are wrong, the on/off ones work fine. Especially CHI. I highly recommend that one. Expensive but the most reliable flat iron I've ever worked with. Also, many of my Indian co-workers have gotten their hair thermally reconditioned, which seems to work out very well to their benefit. You might want to check that out, although it would empty your wallet. And probably your mother's as well.

Additional Details:

I would suggest getting the japanese straightening(which is the thermal recon) but only if you think its worth the price and you really can't stand straightening your own hair. But if you don't mind straightening it yourself, get a job or just save up about 110 usd for a good CHI.

I have a problem....(for my hair)?

maybe your mom thinks straightning your hair and a perm are the same thing.

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

A week ago I used Garnier Fructis Hair Breaks to give my self streaks. But it didn't work out like that and now I have blond hair on top of my brown hair! Don't get me wrong, it still looks cute, but I don't want it to look like that anymore. I'm not using any shampoos designed for colored hair, so will it fade? By the way, I just read the product and it is bleach!!!! so the real question is, does bleach fade???

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

just go buy brown hair die and die it back brown..try to get it as close to your original hair colour as possible...then that way as it fades it will blend into your natural colour...thats what i have done in the past when not happy with streaks....

Good luck!

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

you should go to a beauty supply store like sally's beauty supply and buy a toner which will fade the color out a little bit.

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

OMG!!!!

LOL!!!! LOL!!!!!

OMG!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

bleach isnta colour so it just makes your hair lighter.

and it will fade if the product is cheep and it will fade faster if you dont use special shampoo.

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

i don't think so but i really don't know

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

You're going to have to recolor. Pick a shade between the two and cover your streaks first, wait a few minutes then color the rest. Be sure to condition a bunch or it will look all dry.

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

It may fade, but if it doesn't have the reaction you want, go to a professional hairstylist. That's why they are professional.

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

Once your hair is bleached it's not gonna fade away, forget it lol...

You can only bleach it more, or put color over it! Any colour will fade as long as it's not bleached...

So good luck with that!

And if I was you I would start looking at some dies to cover up the blond ( if you don't want it anymore) or maybe you should just go to a hair salon!

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

no.. die your hair with a brown, back to one color, bleach..liftrd your color out...

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

You should come to there website or use the number on the back of the product and call them and ask them. They should tell you everything you wont to know. But color does fade, but sometimes it will take a long time. I just dont kno about bleach. If it was substitute for bleach then it should say artificial bleach which is not the same as straight bleach.

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

Go to your local salon and tell them to fix!

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT TRY AND FIX IT YOURSELF!

GOOD LUUUCK!!!

Oh my gosh! Hair crisis! Please help me!?

No bleach will not fade, it gets lighter with time, I recommend go to a salon.

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

Hi, Ive been trying to highlight my hair with a light red or light brown color. My hair is currently very dark brown and no matter what i try my highlights NEVER come out looking lighter than my hair. Ive tried colors made specially for dark hair and also tried mixing the color wit a developer designed to turn hair lighter instead of a regular developer. Im not sure what Im doing wrong but If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

Go to a professional before you ruin your hair

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

Go to Sally's tell them your situation and they will tell you what to do!! Usually everyone that works there has a coz license but ask first!!

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

sometimes you have to bleach your hair first.

just go to the salon....

:D

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

No offense here...but quit wasting your money on boxes of hair dye at the store, and go to a salon...in the long run it ends up being cheaper. Total the amount of money you have spent on boxes from the store "trying" to achieve your desired effect, compare it to the amount you spend at a salon actually achieving your desired effect.

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

sounds like you need to lighten your hair with bleach first (where you want the lighter color). then add the highlight color you want.

if you want to pay the bigger bucks, go get it done professionally and watch what they do and ask questions. then when you need to color it again you know how.

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

Dying your hair a light brown you can get better results then dying it lighter.

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

because if you want a lighter color you need to strip the color you have in your hair by bleaching it..just go get it professionally done and they can explain to you how they do it

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

Coloring or highlighting dark hair in a lighter shade is especially difficult to pull off at home. You should definitely go to a salon and have them do it for you. As another answerer said, you'll save more money in the long run this way. A professional will have the know-how and the quality products needed to highlight your dark hair.

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

well the best thing to do really is to go to a professional salon, they will know what to do with it, and if you don't like the final product then it is their responsibility to fix it for you. a friend of mine had the same problem and the hairstylist ended up bleaching out her hair first and then putting the color on over it.

You should also slack off with the at home colors because you will fry your hair out and ruin it. And besides with all the money you use with buying those you could go out and get it done by a professional and be happy with the end result!

Hopefully this helps and you get your hair to go the way you want it too, i know i hate when mine doesn't! GoodLuck!!

Why cant I highlight My Hair a Lighter Color? What Am I doing Wrong?

ok i had the same thing well now i buy the bleach and put foil and then blow dry it for an hour then wash it. plus you can also repeat
